What is Marriage Works! Ohio?

Marriage Works! Ohio is a collaborative effort of several local organizations united under the lead of Elizabeth’s New Life Center with a federal grant to provide relationship and marriage education for couples in seven Ohio counties (Butler, Greene, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery, Shelby, and Warren).  Learn more on our About Us page.

Who should take Marriage Works! Ohio’s classes?

Any couple (whether married, engaged, considering marriage, living together, or seriously dating) who wants their relationship to be happy, healthy, lasting, and stronger should consider taking one of our classes!

However, as part of our policy here at Marriage Works! Ohio to promote non-violence in all relationships, we have put certain guidelines into place.  These guidelines prevent us from allowing individuals who have been charged with a sexually based or domestic violence crime from receiving our services. This policy may also include those who have been charged with certain violent crimes, such as kidnapping or aggravated burglary.

In order to promote a safe environment and ensure that this policy is followed, we check the public court records of all of our participants.  We want you to be aware of our procedures, especially that we will be checking your public record if you sign up for a class.

If you have questions about this policy, our Healthy Couples Coordinator is available to talk with you further and explain a little more about this policy and procedure.  Please call us at 937-262-7010 for more information.

Do you provide counseling?

No.  We are an education-based organization; as such, we do not provide counseling or therapy.  However, as part of our Support Services, we do provide Individualized Education, where you can meet “one-on-one” with a member of our licensed Support Staff as a couple.  This service is primarily offered for couples who are currently participating in a class, or have participated in the past,  but may also be available for other couples.  For more information, visit our Support Services page.

What is Marriage Education or Marriage Enrichment?

Marriage Education or Enrichment (ME) is a fairly new concept.  The idea behind ME is that relationship skills can be learned, and couples who have and use good relationship skills will have healthier, happier relationships.  Our goal is to share relationship skills (like conflict resolution techniques and communication ideas) with couples so that they can use them to make their own relationships stronger and happier.
